Speed
The cheetah is the fastest land animal. It can run at up to 70 MPH (miles per hour). However, it can only run at its top speed for a short while.
The cheetah uses its tail for balance while it is running. Its spine is very flexible, allowing it to make quick turns to catch its prey.
Its claws do not retract. If they did retract, the cheetah could slip while it was running.
